S'Mores

Last, but not least, Papa came out to camp to have dinner and S'MORES...Love you Papa!

Beatin' the heat

Oh...I feel really badly for the people who weren't at camp today (or somewhere near the water) it was H-O-T!!! We pretty much spent the rest of the weekend swimming from the dock to the float Uncle Tate put out in the middle of the cove. Even though I had my life jacket on the whole time, I was a little afraid to 'swim'. We haven't taken a swim class since Mom went back to work in November...and this was really the first time the water was warm enough for me to get in the 'deep and swim (I've played in the shallow water near the shore the last couple times I've been at camp). After some time in the water glued to Mom and Dad, I relaxed and had a blast. I *really* had fun on this float--Mom and Dad would motor me around. Later in the day I held on like they did and helped kick to get us out to the float faster. 'Motor boat motor boat go so slow, MB MB go so fast, MB MB STEP ON THE GAS (giggle, laugh, cackle...repeat)

My kayaking adventure

I'm ready for my first kayak adventure. I've been in canoes, rowboats, speedboats and even an open style kayak...but this the whole 'contained' thing is new to me...and Mom and Dad keep warning me that I need to be a bit careful to not "throw my weight around" (whatever that means). Please note, I finally gave in and wore the foolish water shoes Mom bought me at the beginning of the summer. I like my crocks better but they are a 'bit' slippery on the dock. Mom's happy she finally won a battle, but enough about that. Like my snazzy sunglasses? Here, I'll get REAL close so you can see they're Thomas the Tank Engine glasses. Cool.

Hmmm...I have to say, kayaking was fun, but I'm not entirely convinced (yet) that it's my thing. Now, if they'd let ME paddle, I'm sure it would be much more fun! I tried to help my using my hands as a rudder, but I almost tipped us over a few times. The cool thing about our adventure was that is was a beautiful morning on the water. Calm, flat and quiet (well, except for me). We saw osprey, loons and some fish jumpin'. Amazingly, we did not roll our kayak (nor did Mom)!

Camp. A great way to end a vacation....

Which way to fun?
Look for the lobstah and head left...

We arrived at camp at dinner time on Friday night, just in time to throw some steak on the grill. Then Mom had a great idea--we took our dessert (strawberry shortcake with "wick cream") to the dock so we could soak our feet while we ate.

Does it get better than this??? After dessert, I raced to bed b/c I had a full weekend of fun in the sun ahead...

Campin'

Our last "self portrait family picture" before our camera died. BUMMER! Well, at least it waited till the end of our vacation...!!!

Not sure why Mom thinks we're such silly boys?!

Finally....SMORES!!

I think I rather like this whole camping thing...Mom and Dad were worried about how I'd do sleeping in the tent (this was my first time, after all) and I LOVED IT! Finally got to break in my sleeping bag from Auntie Tam...and...had all of my own gear (cookstove, lantern, leatherman etc.) just like Mom and Dad's thanks to Papa & Nanny.
p.s. Fire is COOL!

Hermit Island Campround

We've found a new favorite place to hang out...Hermit Island Campround (down the road from Popham Beach State Park). Mom and Dad used to live in Bath...and used to go to Popham regularly, but since they lived nearby, they'd never camped around here. Found HIC on the internet and...what a gem! We'll definitely be back here next summer. On the beach by 6:30...and had it to ourselves for well over an hour. LOVE IT!

Best seat in the house

Thanks to a tip from the head conductor (our dear friend, Bruce) we got the best seats in the house...the 2nd deck in the caboose. Much to my delight, we were able to see Thomas each time we went around a bend. SO MUCH FUN! I had a blast (and can't wait to go back next year). The ride on Thomas was awesome AND there was all kinds of things to do...it was a little rough in the afternoon b/c we played all the way through nap, but, I kept it together pretty well by my standards. Later in the afternoon we met up with Bruce and his wife and they treated us to a great meal where we got to sit outside and look at the water and play a great game of "I spy". Thanks again Bruce & Kevin...it was great to see you!! The folk festival is right around the corner...we'd love to have you visit! ;-)

Thomas the Tank Engine

I'm so excited to see Thomas I can hardly stand it!

Here we are infront of the chapel where Mom and Dad were married 9 years ago (Yes, they were married at the Boothbay Railway Village..crazy huh?!

There he is...yeah!!!
